I answer in English first, I'll try to translate later when I have more time...
From my understanding we have the following problems:
- not enough 主讲 and not enough back-up solution when a 主讲 cannot come at last minute
- not enough volunteers staying
I have been thinking about those issues and I have come up with a few propositions (sorry if one or more have been given already, I can only read that much Chinese a day :D )
Not enough 主讲: this is in my opinion because of two reasons:
1. 主讲 2 hours is difficult
2. being 助教 is very comfortable (I know what I am talking about)
To fix that I suggest that we try to have as many 主讲 per class as possible, in the computer group we usually have 2, it's very efficient in case one is missing and it makes it easier also for new 主讲 to get started.
I also think that new people and 助教 should also be more pushed to become 主讲, I am thinking about a typical roadmap that we should try to enforce, for example:
- two first times you participate, you are 旁听
- next three times you participate you are 助教
- next time you HAVE TO try and be 主讲 for 30 minutes or one hour. It does not matter if you suck, people will be there to backup you in that case you have to try.
What I mean is right now, new people becoming 主讲 are exceptional, it should be the normal road for all the volunteers.
Not enough volunteers staying: I would say it's normal to have a lot of turnover but not normal to have more that we used to have but I have no reason to explain it. Maybe we need to do more marketing?
As for the quality of the content, I am not able to judge but I would just say that if 主讲 are busy as hell just teaching every week, it's normal that they don't have time to improve content. More 主讲 with less teaching workload would be more efficient.
Last, it is also very important that people having or finding issues communicate about them so thanks 文锦 for doing so
I am off, will try to translate if I find the courage ^^
