Background Introduction on Halloween
授課內容
T: What day is Halloween? Halloween is on 31 Oct. It is from Ireland and Scotland.
T: What do they do on Halloween?
1) 圖片Thousands of children will dress up as monsters, ghosts and witches. 這一天，孩子們會裝扮成怪物、鬼怪和巫婆巫師一類的東西。（生詞引入）
2）圖片They will go to their neighbors』 houses and knock on their door.
他們會挨家挨戶地去敲鄰居的門。
When the door is opened, they will shout:」trick or treat?」 and the neighbors will give them sweets.
當門打開的時候，他們會說：「trick or treat?」意思就是，給我們糖果，還是讓我們搗蛋？這時候，鄰居們就會給他們一些糖果。如果鄰居沒有準備糖果呢？這些孩子們就會搞一些惡作劇來捉弄鄰居。
Long long time ago, there was a young man named Jack. [圖片] Jack was a rather naughty young man. He was very stingy. What did he like? He liked drinking and playing tricks on others. He played tricks on everybody, families, friends and even the Devil.[圖片] First he made the Devil climb up a tree [圖片] , then he carved a cross into the trunk of the tree. So the devil couldn』t come down. And he made a pact with the devil. He said, "If you want to get down, you have to promise not to take my soul when I die."
Now when Jack died, he couldn』t get into heaven, because he was not a very good person;
but he couldn』t get into hell either, because the devil promised not to take his soul.
But finally, the devil gave him a little ember [圖片]to help him light his way through the darkness.
Jack put the ember into a pumpkin [圖片]to help it burn longer.
This is the story of Jack-o-lantern.
