09陽光英語03 Halloween

本節課是以萬聖節為主題的活動課，主要由手工和話劇表演或其他趣味活動構成。旨在讓學生感受英語背後的文化色彩，讓學生在遊戲中活學活用英語。

Description

Q1：What date is it today?
Today is October the 31st.
Q2：Today is a holiday. Which holiday? [展示寫有單詞的卡片，先讓孩子猜一猜怎麼讀，然後演示拼讀 h-a--l-o--w-ee-n] Halloween.
Q3：What do they do on Halloween? Let』s see.
[圖片1]On October the 31st, across Britain and the USA, thousands of children will dress up as monsters, ghosts and witches.
在這一天，孩子們會裝扮成怪物、鬼怪和巫婆巫師一類的東西。

【註：monster, ghost, witch 這類詞是孩子比較感興趣的，可通過自然拼音拼讀的方法幫助他們記憶。】

[圖片2]They will go to their neighbours』 houses and knock on their door.
他們會挨家挨戶地去敲鄰居的門。
When the door is opened, they will shout:」trick or treat?」 and the neighbours will give them sweets.
當門打開的時候，他們會說：「trick or treat?」意思就是，給我們糖果，還是讓我們搗蛋？這時候，鄰居們就會給他們一些糖果。如果鄰居沒有準備糖果呢？這些孩子們就會搞一些惡作劇來捉弄鄰居。

【註：trick or treat 很適合用來進行自然語音的教學，練習tr音以及長短i音。】

「Trick or Treat」 遊戲

1. 學生分成幾組比賽，輪流遊戲

2. 學生做敲門狀，說「Knock, knock, knock」

3. 老師做開門狀。

4. 學生齊聲問「trick or treat?」

5. 老師問「who are you?」 並舉出一張flashcard。

6. 學生按照老師舉出的卡片回答句子：「I'm a ...(ghost/monster/witch..etc.)」

7. 回答正確總數最多的組獲勝。獎勵小貼畫。（可另設勇敢獎，獎勵大膽開口的一組）

故事時間：Jack-o-lantern』s Story

[圖片3] Many houses have lanterns made from pumpkins in their windows. These lanterns have frightening faces cut into them. They are called Jack-o-lanterns.
很多家庭會在窗檯放上南瓜燈。南瓜燈是用掏空的南瓜做的，在上面挖出一個可怕的臉來。這種燈還有特別的名字，叫Jack-o-lantern。為什麼叫Jack呢？這裡面有一個有趣的故事。

三明治講法：

Long long time ago, there was a young man named Jack. [圖片] Jack was a rather naughty young man. Jack是一個調皮搗蛋的年輕人。He was very stingy. 他是個小氣鬼，不喜歡幫助別人。What did he like? He liked drinking and playing tricks on others. He played tricks on everybody, families, friends and even the Devil.[圖片] 他只喜歡兩件事：喝酒和捉弄別人。有一天，他甚至去捉弄魔鬼。First he made the Devil climb up a tree[圖片], then he carved a cross into the trunk of the tree. 他先把魔鬼騙上了樹，然後在樹榦上划了一個十字，這樣魔鬼就不敢下來了。（為什麼有了十字魔鬼就不敢下來了呢？因為在基督教里，十字是具有神聖的力量的，魔鬼見了十字就不敢輕舉妄動了。）接着Jack就跟魔鬼訂了一個協議，讓魔鬼答應，在他死以後，不要把他的靈魂帶走。"You have to promise not to take my soul when I die."

許多年後，Jack去世了，his soul couldn't go to heaven. 他的靈魂去不了天堂， 因為他不是一個很善良的人。而另外一邊呢，his soul couldn't go to hell. 地獄也不要他，為什麼？因為他之前讓魔鬼答應不帶走要他的靈魂。所以Jack就只好成了孤魂野鬼在黑暗中四處飄蕩。不過最後，魔鬼還是發了下善心，給他一樣東西 a little ember [圖片]，Jack put this little ember into an empty pumpkin [圖片]. Jack就把這一小團火苗放到南瓜燈里讓它能夠燃久一點。於是每年的萬聖節，人們就會做出樣子可怕的南瓜燈放在窗口，嚇走Jack這樣的孤魂野鬼。

全英文故事：

Now when Jack died, he couldn』t get into heaven, because he was not a very good person; 
but he couldn』t get into hell either, because the devil promised not to take his soul.
But finally, the devil gave him a little ember [圖片]to help him light his way through the darkness.
Jack put the ember into a pumpkin [圖片]to help it burn longer.

This is the story of Jack-o-lantern.

Jack (拿着酒瓶，醉酒樣): Lalala烏雲蓋飯 （向觀眾）Hello there! I'm Jack.
Devil (從舞台一側登場，向觀眾做出恐嚇狀): I』m the devil! I』m very very scary!
Jack （看到Devil，靈機一動，向觀眾）: Ah! The Devil! (I'll play a trick on him. )
Jack (站在樹邊，對Devil說）: Devil! Come here!
Devil 向Jack走去。
Jack: Can you climb up the tree?
Devil (不屑地)：Of course.

第二幕
Devil 爬上樹去。
Devil (得意地): See, I can climb up the tree!
Jack 在樹榦上划了一個十字。
Jack: Ha-ha, but you can』t get down now!
Devil (抱頭，驚恐狀): Oh, no!
Jack(交叉雙臂，強勢地): (If you want to get down, )you must promise me something.
Devil: OK. (What do you want?)
Jack: You shall never take my soul when I die. (You must promise never to take my soul when I die.)
Devil: OK, I promise.
Jack (擦去十字): Good, now you can get down. 
Narrator：Devil climbed down the tree and ran away.

第三幕
Narrator：Many years later, Jack died.
Jack 老態龍鍾，忽然跌倒。Jack的靈魂從他倒下的身旁上場。
Jack』s spirit (向觀眾): I』m Jack』s spirit.
Narrator：Jack』s spirit went to heaven.
Jack 走向舞台有天使守護的一側。

Angel A: What』s your name?
Jack』s spirit: I』m Jack.
Angel B (裝作查生死簿): You are stingy and naughty. 
Angel A (伸手阻止狀): You are not allowed into heaven.

Jack沮喪地走向舞台有魔鬼守衛的一側。
Devil: What』s your name?
Jack』s spirit: I』m Jack.
Devil: Hey, did you make me climb up a tree? (are you the Jack that made me climb up a tree?)
Jack』s spirit: Yes, I did.
Devil (搖頭，伸手阻止狀): I promised I would not take your soul. 
Jack』s spirit (驚恐): Oh, no! Where should I go? It』s dark out there.
Devil: OK, I』ll give you this.
Devil 裝作給Jack一小團火苗，Jack接過火苗，並將其放到南瓜燈里。
Devil: Farewell, Jack!
Jack (傷心地): Farewell!

道具

Jack面具，飲料瓶，魔鬼面具（做出牛角），魔鬼斗篷（可選），講桌（樹），象徵靈魂的頭戴圓圈，天使翅膀，指示heaven和hell方向的路標，紙質南瓜燈。
