莫里斯•斯特朗（Maurice F. Strong）任过联合国副秘书长和安南秘书长特别顾问，曾8次担任联合国副秘书长；他所担任的职务还包括联合国和平大学理事会（The Council of the University for Peace）会长，地球委这是最员会基金会（Earth Council Foundation）理事长，世界经济论坛基金会（World Economic Forum Foundation）董事长，美国人道促进会（Humane Society of the United States）会长，丰田汽车株式会社（Toyota Motor Corporation）国际顾问委员会成员。他是中国国家环境保护总局（State Environmental Protection Agency of China）局长国际事务顾问。 1970年11月到1972年12月间，斯特朗先生担任过联合国人类环境大会的秘书长。随后莫里斯•斯特朗先生成为联合国环境开发署（UNEP）的首任执行官（1973年1月至1975年12月）。他之后被任命为加拿大国家石油公司的总裁、主席和首席执行官。他也担任过加拿大电力公司总裁，加拿大国际开发署（CIDA）的首任总裁，加拿大开发投资公司的主席和国际开发研究中心（IDCR）在加拿大的理事长。 斯特朗先生是1992年联合国环境和发展大会地球峰会的秘书长并同时兼任联合国的副秘书长。
斯特朗先生从1992年12月至1995年12月担任北美最大的公共事业公司--安大略水电集团（Ontario-Hydro）的首席执行官。1995年6月被任命为世界银行（The World Bank）总裁的高级顾问。
